Frequently asked questions
How many Pokémon are in Pokémon Sword and Shield?
The base Galar Pokédex covers 400 species. With the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra DLC (sold together as the Expansion Pass), the combined roster grows to 584 catchable Pokémon.
What is "Dexit" in Sword and Shield?
Sword and Shield were the first mainline Pokémon games to ship with a reduced National Pokédex. Many older Pokémon could not be transferred in or caught, which fans nicknamed "Dexit". The Crown Tundra DLC later restored most of the legendary Pokémon and several common species, but some are still unavailable.
What are the starter Pokémon in Sword and Shield?
Grookey (Grass), Scorbunny (Fire) and Sobble (Water). Their final evolutions are Rillaboom, Cinderace and Inteleon.
Which Pokémon are exclusive to Sword vs Shield?
Sword exclusives: Farfetch’d, Sirfetch’d, Mawile, Solrock, Passimian, Jangmo-o, Hakamo-o, Kommo-o, Flapple, Turtonator, Stonjourner, Coalossal, plus Zacian on the cover. Shield exclusives: Ponyta, Rapidash, Sableye, Lunatone, Oranguru, Appletun, Drampa, Eiscue, Cursola, plus Zamazenta on the cover. The Crown Tundra DLC adds further version-exclusive returning legendaries.
What Pokémon were added in the Isle of Armor and Crown Tundra DLC?
Isle of Armor added the Dojo trainer Mustard, the new Pokémon Kubfu and Urshifu (Single Strike and Rapid Strike forms), Galarian Slowpoke / Slowbro and roughly 100 returning species. The Crown Tundra added Galarian Slowking, Regieleki, Regidrago, Calyrex, Glastrier, Spectrier and the Dynamax Adventures roguelike mode for catching most prior legendary Pokémon.
